Saturday:
Travelers from North America leave for Iceland on an overnight flight with an early morning arrival at Keflavik Airport in Iceland.

Sunday:

Welcome to Iceland!

The Flybus shuttle will bring you from the airport into Reykjavik and drop you at your hotel. You'll have the day to enjoy Iceland's capital, visit museums, shops, the big outdoor swimming pool nearby and some of the many fine coffee houses, and restaurants. Lunch and dinner are on your own. You'll have tonight to rest up and recover from your short night sleep on the flight.

Monday:

South Shore

From Reykjavík head through the town of Hveragerði and the surrounding fertile farmlands, noting numerous glacial rivers on the way to Skógar. Continue to Dyrhólaey*, a nature reserve, ready to explore. Discover the former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent at Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Overnight in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.

*Please note that Dyrholaey is closed during nesting season in spring, middle May til June 23rd

Tuesday:

Skaftafell National Park Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon

Depart from Kirkjubæjarklaustur on to Skaftafell National Park, one of Iceland's most outstanding areas of natural beauty, dominated by Vatnajökull, Europe's largest ice cap. Continue to the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon where huge icebergs float and grind together in the still, deep waters of the lagoon. Overnight in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.

Wednesday:

Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk valley

Strike out along the Fjallabaksleið interior track to Landmannalaugar, a magnificent area surrounded by colorful rhyolite mountains, with the option of bathing in a natural warm pool, a great way to rejuvenate the skin and the spirit. Spot the towering Hekla, the iconic Icelandic volcano, after exploring the Þjórsárdalur Valley. Overnight in Flúðir area.

Note: If the route to Landmannalaugar is closed due to road conditions (spring or early summer) the tour goes through lava fields and outwash sands formed by floods from the glacial volcano Katla to Vík, passing two beautiful waterfalls, and on to Þórsmörk valley.

Thursday

Gullfoss Þingvellir National Park Reykjavík

Depart for the Geysir area to see the famous great Geysir and Strokkur, a hot spring that spouts every few minutes. On to Gullfoss, one of Iceland's most impressive waterfalls. The next stop is Þingvellir National Park, where the ancient parliament met for centuries on the shores of Iceland's largest lake, before heading back to Reykjavik.

You'll have a last night back in Reyjkavik, and a chance to sample some of the cities great restaurants and perhaps -if you dare- even it's night life!!

Overnight stay in Reykjavík.

Friday:
Time to say good bye ...

After breakfast travelers on early flights will make an early departure via Flybus to the airport., while those leaving late afternoon will have time to explore a bit of Reykjavík, do some shopping, or soak in the warm swimming pool in nearby Laugardalur, before being picked up by the Flybus around 1 PM

As with any of the Iceland Adventure tours, we’ll be happy to arrange for you to arrive in Iceland afew days before the tour starts, or to stay a few days after the tour ends - just ask!
